Lady D the African American songstress is not a new comer to the Nigerian Music scene. A fashion designer by profession, Lady D has designed for musical videos and stage shows of many top Nigerian artist such as the dynamic Femi Kuti dancers, Yinka Davis, Muma G, Onyeka Owenu, Wunmi & Tunde Obe, Chief Oliver De Co, Dr. Alban, Charly Boy, Ara, and many more.
Her passion of the arts has motivated her to into the film and television industry as she co-produced and stared as the famous Miss ITK on the award winning comedy television program Charly Show and Zoom Time talk show along with her Husband the renound television producer/activist/ musician and presently the President of the Performing Musician Association of Nigeria (PMAN).
Presently Lady D has her hands filled as she embarks on her pet projects Taakara a Teaching African Arts & Crafts Television Program with intent to contribute to the empowerment of the less privileged in the society and help to eradicate poverty in Nigeria through self employment. Also in the making is a the Lets Click Dating Game television show, which portrays the African Culture through diversity of fashion, and culture while fostering unity amongst peers, tribes and race.
Lady D’s years of hard work as backup singer for Charly Boy’s many releases will finally pay off as she steps in to the front seat and take control of her new CD, which is released under OJ’S Records. Being the first female artist under the label with her prestige as the First Lady of the Performing Musicians of Nigeria Ojez’s music is leaving no stone unturned as they go all out to ensure the spectacular release of her first CD.
The 10 tracker is said to be a sure hit as Lady D dynamic stage presents and soulful voice is a blended fusion of modern African high life, mokosa and rhythm and blues. As she heeds the beckoning call of the Mother land her Unification of the African and metropolitan American style carves out a unique identity of her own. This songstress has been involved in many performances over the year, and most recently performed the hit Tsunami single along with other prominent Nigerian artist for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria President Olusegun Obasanjo. This event was able to raise millions of naira, for the victims of the tsunami disaster. Pman Corporate Nite put yet another feather in Lady D’s hat, as entertainment writer Mr. Jude Ekemena of Sunday Independence news wrote: Lady D’s performance was a welcomed and refreshing experience, as all curious minds in the industries awaits her debut. Performing side by side with Déjà vu (Tunde and Wunmi Obe) during their Two concert organized by the White House in conjunction with Copy Kat Entertainment, gave fans another sneak preview of what is yet to come, as she ignited the entire audience once again leaving no doubt that she is here to stay. Sliverbird 25th Anniversary was a golden opportunity for the Nigerian Music scene to showcase the best in the industry. Sliverbird celebrated 25 years of entertainment and the success of the Sliverbird Empire as they hosted the crème de la crème of the society. When invited Lady D jump at the chance to perform for the event which included the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria the Executive Governor of Lagos state her First Lady and a host of others.
